Lamine Yamal is Barça's Kings day gift to the fans! Although the player has yet to be declared fully recovered this January 6 from the injury that he suffered on December 15 against Leganés, for which he was expected to be out for 3 to 4 weeks, he has nevertheless been included the list of players that are travelling to Saudi Arabia for the Spanish Super Cuip. After missing the league game with Atlético Madrid and the cup tie at Barbastro, the hope is that he will be ready in time to feature at the event that begins with a semi-final against Athletic Club on Wednesday.
For all intents and purposes, the Super Cup would be the first trophy Lamine has won with Barça, for although he was officially in the side that won La Liga in 2022/23, he only played seven minutes of that campaign. Of course, since then he has gone on to become one of the most essential components of the team, and his return to action would be a very welcome one indeed.
