Five dates for your 2025 diary
Welcome to 2025! New year, new hopes, and time to start filling in the big dates for the year ahead on your calendar. And among those are some dates that FC Barcelona fans will be looking to keep free, because hopefully they are going to be very special ones indeed.
January 12
The second week of the year could already be bringing major silverware. That's the day of the Spanish Super Cup Final, which once again is being contested in Saudi Arabia. Barça are not guaranteed a place. First they will need to beat Athletic Club on Wednesday 8 January at 8pm CET. If they win that, they'll be playing either Real Madrid or Mallorca for the title at the same time the following Sunday.
April 26
Barça's Copa del Rey journey begins this coming Saturday away to Barbastro, kick off 7pm CET. From there, there's a long road ahead, but the goal is to reach the final after missing out in the last three seasons. The venue in April is once again La Cartuja in Seville. Barça have won this trophy more than any other club, and another win would take the tally up to 32.
May 11
The first El Clásico of the year and the second of the competitive season after a fantastic 4-0 win for Barça at the Santiago Bernabeu. However, as things stand, the two rivals, along with Atlético Madrid, are very closely matched in the league, and who knows what the situation will be like when this game is played? It could well be decisive, with just three more league games to be played between this one and the end of the season.
May 14
The week after, Barça will be heading to neighbouring Cornellà for the second derby of the campaign. Barça won 3-1 at the Estadi Olimpic, but this time Espanyol will have the home advantage at the RCDE Stadium. And coming so close to the season's climax, the result is likely to matter a lot to both teams.
May 31
Of course, the biggest dream this season is to win the UEFA Champions League. The final is on the last day of May at Bayern Munich's Allianz Arena. But it's far too early to start making plans for that. Barça still have two more League Phase games to play against Benfica and Atalanta, although they have already ensured themselves a place in the knockout stage. Barça are looking to reach the final for the first time since 2015.
