Pedri named in squad to face Valencia

Canary Islander, injured at Euro 24, is ready to play and has been included in Flick's first Liga squad

Great news for Barça fans! Pedri has recovered from the injury sustained in the quarter finals of Euro 24 and has been declared fully fit and selectable for Saturday's first Liga match of the season away to Valencia. And the Canary Islander's name has been included in the list of players that Hansi Flick has announced for the 9.30pm CEST kick-off at Mestalla.

Flick already explained this in his Friday press conference, saying that Pedri may well come on in the second half. However new signing Dani Olmo has been left out because the manager says he would rather the Spanish international took part in a few more training sessions with his new team mates to ensure that he is perfectly in tune before making his debut. Also absent from his selection are the injured Ronald Araujo, Gavi and Frenkie de Jong, while Ilkay Gündogan sits this game out as a precautionary measure after he took a knock to the head in the Joan Gamper match against Monaco.

The full squad of 22 players for the game in Valencia is as follows: Ter Stegen, Cubarsí, Balde, I. Martinez, Ferran, Pedri,  Lewandowski, Raphinha, Iñaki Peña, Pablo Torre, Christensen, M. Casadó, Pau Víctor, Lamine Yamal, Kounde, Eric, Astralaga, Marc Bernal, ⁠Alex Valle, H. Fort, Gerard Martín and S. Domíngez.
