The game between Sevilla and FC Barcelona, planned for week 4 of La Liga kick off 9pm CEST on Saturday 11 September may have to be postponed and played at a later date.
La Liga, the Spanish Football League, in a press statement, revealed that they have sent a request to the Spanish FA (RFEF) to request the postponement of two matches from Week 4's fixtures, Sevilla v Barça and Villarreal v Alavés, both set to be played on Saturday 11 Septemeber, as well as modifications to kick off times for other fixtures.
After the refusal of the Court of Arbitration for Sport to grant La Liga an injunction against FIFA's decision to extend the time that South American international players need to be away with the respective national teams, the league's governing body has decided to take this measure due players who will "join up with their Clubs on Friday having played 3 international matches with fixtures then on Saturday or Sunday with their clubs, which makes it clear that they will be able to able to compete in equal conditions."
