Born on 4 July 1991 in Legazpi, Guizpúzcoa in Spain, Irene Paredes started her career with her home town club before moving on Sociedad Deportiva Urola and then Deportivo Zarautz before a spell at Real Sociedad. Paredes made her debut in the league for la Real at the age of 17 before moving to Athletic Club in 2011. She was part of their league winning squad in 2016 after which she moved to France and Paris Saint-Germain where she played until joining FC Barcelona in 2021. Since becoming a blaugrana she has added more league titles and a Champions League title amongst other trophies to her list of honours
Irene Paredes is one of the best defenders in the world and is captain of the Spanish national team. The defender played every game in Spain's successful 2023 World Cup winning campaign in Australia and New Zealand.
