FC Barcelona athlete and triple-jumper Jordan Díaz received a warm welcome from the blaugrana fans today. The Paris 2024 Olympic Games champion showed off his gold medal at the Estadi Olímpic before the UEFA Champions League Barça v Young Boys game to great applause.
The blaugrana became Olympic champion in Paris ahead of Pedro Pichardo and Andy Díaz with a jump of 17.86 metres. Originally from Cuba but competing for the Spanish team, he also became European champion in 2024.
Jordan Díaz also holds the Spanish triple jump record with the third longest jump in history of 18.18 metres. The 23-year-old champion still has some way to go to surpass Jonathan Edwards' world record of 18.29 metres set in 1995 however.
After his performance at Paris 2024, Díaz joined walker María Pérez as a flag bearer during the Olympic Games closing ceremony.
Paris 2024: five gold and three bronze medals
