The Copa del Rey is in full flight and the draw for the quarter-finals of the competition took place on Monday. FC Barcelona will face Valencia in a one legged tie at Mestalla on Thursday, 6 February at 9.30pm CET in a game which will come in midweek in between La Liga clashes at home to Alavés and away at Sevilla.
Two meetings in 12 days
In the space of 12 days, Barça and Valencia will meet twice. The first game comes on Sunday 26 January at the Estadi Olímpic in La Liga with the second on Thursday 6 February in the Copa del Rey, this time in Mestalla stadium.
Barça began their 2024/25 league campaign at Mestalla against Valencia, winning 2-1 thanks to a brace from Lewandowski in Hansi Flick's first official game in charge.
Last meeting in the cup
The clash between the two clubs is a classic match up in the Copa del Rey. Nevertheless, the most recent does not bring back good memories for the blaugranes. In the final of the competition in 2019 in the Benito Villamarín, Valencia defeated Barça 2-1 to lift the trophy. In recent years the teams have met on four occasions in the semi-finals with Barça reaching the final on three occasions, in 2017/18, 2015/16 and 2011/12.
The rest of the quarter-finals:
Leganés v Real Madrid
Atlético Madrid v Getafe
Real Sociedad v Osasuna
