Barça Atlètic went down to a 1-0 defeat away from home at Zamora in week 24 of the Primera Federación in part due to their inability to take their chances. The home side took the lead in the first half through Kike, and despite an improved performance after the break from the blaugranes, they were unable to find a way back into the game.
Zamora take the advantage
In the first half of the encounter, the blaugranes struggled to find their form. Albert Sánchez's team came into the contest on a run of five games without a win, and the lack of confidence was clear.
Zamora took advantage of Barça's hesitancy, and on 25 minutes they were ahead. Kike pounced on a loose ball in the box and made no mistake with his finish to give the home side a 1-0 lead at half time.
Changes after the break
Barça improved in the second half, but they were still guilty of a lacking quality in the final third. Toni Fernández went close after a cross from Aleix Garrido, and Albert Sánchez looked to the subs' bench for inspiration bringing on Ureña and Cortés. The former went close to an equaliser, bringing a good save from Zamora keeper Sobrón.
The blaugranes dominated possession, but Zamora were always able to keep them at arm's length. Brian Fariñas went close with just a few minutes left with the last chance of the contest for Barça, who now face Arenteiro next at home next Sunday.
