The Benito Villamarín chosen as venue for Copa del Rey final
The RFEF have named the Benito Villamarín in Seville as the venue for the final of the Copa del Rey. The 61,000 capacity ground, home to LaLiga side Real Betis, will also host the draw for the semifinals on 2 February.
FC Barcelona remain in contention for a fifth consecutive Copa del Rey, but will have to overcome Betis' rivals, Sevilla, if they are to reach the final.
Nuevo Los Cármenes in Granada will be the location for the final of the Copa de la Reina, on 11 May. Barça Women, who play the quarterfinals of the competition this Wednesday against Madrid CFF, are targeting a third win in the competition in as many years.
Finals for Barça in Seville
Should Barça go through to the final game of the competition, it would thus be the second such final for them in the Southern Spanish city. On 10 May 1925, they beat Arenas de Guecho 0-2 at the Reina Victoria -the first venue in Seville to hold a cup final.
They have also played there with other trophies on the line: On 7 May 1986, the Sánchez-Pizjuán hosted the European Cup final between FC Barcelona and Steaua Bucharest, which the Blaugrana lost on penalties. Barça have, however, won the Spanish Super Cup twice at Sevilla's stadium: In 2010 and 2016.
