Sergi Roberto beats Luis Suárez in latest Best Goal Ever round
Sergi Roberto was victorious over Luis Suárez in the latest round of the Best Goal Ever competition, the contest in which FC Barcelona fans choose the best goal in Club history. . The Saturday duel between the two saw a pair of their strikes pitted against one another in a straight knockout fan vote.
The goal by Sergi Roberto that completed the comeback against PSG in the last 16 of the 2016/17 Champions League (6-1) received 70% of the 29,836 votes, whilst the goal which Suárez scored against the same opposition in the first leg of the quarterfinals of the Champions League in 2014/15 was eliminated from the competition.
AN 'ARGUMENT' OVER THE TWO GOALS
Both players had stated their case to one another in an entertaining discussion before the fans were consulted.
S.R .: "I think mine was good and he had a bit of luck, mine wasn't bad in terms of its importance."
L.S .: "It's one thing to vote for the best goal and another to vote for the importance of the goal, yours was more important but ..."
S.R .: "The best goal is all-inclusive, also the importance of the goal. One day I scored a goal, help me!"
Sergi Roberto will find out his next rival on Monday. It will be either Alexis Sánchez or Andrés Iniesta.
