Barça B 2-0 CD Alcoyano: First win of the year
Barça B have beaten Alcoyano 2-0 at the Miniestadi to earn their first three points of the year, in a game that the Barcelona reserves dominated from the start, although it wasn’t until after the break that they finally turned that dominance into goals.
That’s now eight games that Barça B have gone without defeat and with 32 points they are well immersed in the battle for a promotion playoff berth.
The visitors piled on the pressure easy on, with Iñaki Peña being forced to make a couple of particularly impressive saves, but the blaugrana soon gained control of the ball and pace with Senegalese international winger Wague especially active. It was only tight defending from the Valencian side that prevented them from breaking the deadlock in the first 45 minutes.
The opening goal didn’t take long in coming once the players were back out on the field. And a wonderful team move it was, finished off in classy fashion by Wague off a Monchu assist.
The goal was a boost for the Barça confidence, and a second always looked more likely than one for Alcoyano. And that proved to be the case on 72 minutes when Carles Pérez fired in a powerful drive following a solo run down the wing.
With left back Vilarrassa coming on to make his debut, the remainder of the game was relatively plain sailing, with the three points never really looking in doubt.
