Todibo, Barça's new signing for 2019-20
FC Barcelona have reached an agreement with the French player Jean-Clair Todibo for him to join the Club from 1 July 2019.
The player’s contract with Toulouse FC ends on 30 June this year and so he will join on a free transfer.
Jean-Clair Todibo was born in Cayenne, the capital of French Guyana in South America, on 30 December 1999. The Frenchman played for the FC Les Lilas club at the youth level before joining Toulouse FC in 2016. He made his first team debut at the beginning of the 2018/19 season at the age of just 18 against Girondins Bordeaux in the second game of the Ligue 1 campaign. In total has made 10 appearances for the French club this season, all of them in the starting XI.
Despite operating as a centre back, the youngster has already scored his first goal as a professional. On 30 September he scored a late equaliser in the 1-1 draw away at Rennes. At the international level he has represented France on two occasions at the U-20 level.
Youth and potential for the Barça defence
Todibo is a tall, right-footed defender who can play at centre back and also in the centre of the midfield. At the youth level he often featured in the middle of the field given his ability on the ball.
One of his best qualities is his physical presence and his ability in the air. At just 19 years of age, the young talent comes to FC Barcelona as one of the most promising players in European Football in his position.
