Group B victory by the numbers
The 1-1 draw with Tottenham drew another successful Champions League group stage to a close. Unbeaten and top of the group once again! Let’s take a look back at some of the achievements along the way.
23 players
Ernesto Valverde used 23 different players in the six Group B fixtures.
Eight scorers
The fourteen goals were shared out as follows: Messi (6), Dembélé (2), Coutinho (1), Jordi Alba (1), Piqué (1), Malcom (1), Rafinha (1) and Rakitic (1).
63.7% possession
The famous Barça style was showcased throughout the six games, with a majestic average possession of 63.7%.
New unbeaten home record
On Tuesday, Barça equalled Bayern Munich’s run of 29 home Champions League games without defeat. Curiously it was the Bavarians, with a 3-0 win in May 2013, who were the last team to win a UCL game at Camp Nou.
Table toppers
Barça set a new record by finishing top of their group for 12 consecutive seasons from 2007–08 to 2018–19
Leo Messi on top
Despite only starting three games, Leo Messi is joint leader in the Champions League goalscoring charts with six, matched with Robert Lewandowski of Bayern Munich.
In doing so he has become only the second player to ever score in 14 different editions of the tournament, and the first in consecutive seasons (the other being Raúl for Real Madrid and Schalke 04).
