FC Barcelona Lassa – Fenerbahçe: Beaten by Turkish effectiveness (65-84)
A clear defeat against a good opponent in the Euroleague. Barça Lassa fell short against Fenerbahçe (65-84) in a match in which the hosts couldn’t find their rhythm and were beaten by Turkish effectiveness. Despite the difference in the scoreline, the culers didn’t give up. Adam Hanga, with 16 points and six rebounds, was the most outstanding Barça player.
The match started equally, but the visitors took advantage of Barça's misses at the basket to lead by six points at the end of the first quarter (17-23). Fenerbahçe had a great start to the second quarter, surging ahead (21-33, min 13). Svestislav Pesic’s side increased their intensity and, led by Hanga, were able to cut the difference to just below 10 points before the break (36-45).
Effort
A 4-0 start to the third quarter ensured Barça were just five behind (40-45) and were able to maintain this closeness for a while. However, the visitors soon picked up the pace again with great offensive effectiveness, and by the end of the quarter the gap had grown to 17 points (47-64).
Barça maintained their effort despite the physical wear and tear, and came within 12 points of the Turkish team (58-70, min 36). A 0-7 then saw the match swing definitively in favour of the visitors and it gave them the impetus to pull clear for the final time (65-84).
