Empire State Building to project FC Barcelona's colours
The launch of the FC Barcelona office in New York will see a very special conclusion. The Empire State Building, one of the most emblematic edifices in Manhattan, will be illuminated with the Club’s colours on Wednesday. The event is a tribute to the Club and its Foundation for its alliance with UNICEF in the year of its tenth anniversary, but also as a welcome to Barça in the city in its new headquarters.
The Empire State Building will be illuminated in the club’s traditional colours which will be seen late Wednesday afternoon once the sun goes down in the city filled with skyscrapers. Prior to the representation of the Club, the first vice-president Jordi Cardoner and former player Ronaldinho will take part in the traditional act of turning on the lights. The skyscraper will light up the New York sky with the club’s colours throughout the night.
The Empire State Building, constructed between 1929 and 1931, is not only an icon of the city but also of the American dream. The building is made up of 102 floors, is 381 metres tall and for over 42 years, until 1974, was the world’s tallest skyscraper.
