Busy September in store for FC Barcelona
September is going to be a busy time at Barça, with seven games in just 23 days. Five of those are league fixtures, including one midweek game against Atlético Madrid at the Camp Nou, while the other two are in the Champions League.
Five in La Liga
The hectic schedule begins with the first game back after the international break, at home to newly promoted Alavés (Saturday 10 at 8.30pm CET). A week later, it’s off to Madrid to face Liga first-timers Leganés. The Wednesday after, Atlético Madrid will be coming to the Camp Nou for what is never an easy encounter, and the weekend immediately following that brings a trip to Asturias to play Sporting Gijón. The first weekend of October features another intense trip north, this time to the home of Celta, after which the competition goes on hiatus once again for international matches.
First two European clashes
In addition to all that activity on the domestic front, Barça will also be beginning their bid to win a sixth continental crown. The Champions League group stage kicks off with a familiar guest appearing at the Camp Nou – Glasgow Celtic on 13 September at the traditional UCL kick-off time of 8.45pm CET. The final week of the month brings game two on September 28, and it’s the one in which Barça stopper Ter Stegen will be playing against the club where it all started for him: Borussia Mönchengladbach.
