Sergio Busquets renews contract with FC Barcelona!
Sergio Busquets has signed a new contract with FC Barcelona that will see him stay at the club until 2021, with an option to further renew until 2023, depending on games played.
Joined by Josep Maria Bartomeu, Sergio put pen to paper at the club’s office on Thursday morning. The current third captain of the team has racked up 390 appearances with the first team, with 12 goals, since debuting for Pep Guardiola in the 2008/09 season.
His progression since then has been incredible, becoming an indispensable player for the team due to his flawless positional sense and passing accuracy among many other assets. He has helped Barça to multiple trophies, and the Spanish national team, with whom he has won two European Championships and a World Cup.
“Busquets is fundamental to our team," said Barça captain Andrés Iniesta at the presentation of his new book. "He's essential, and as time goes by he will be even more so."
In Barça’s jersey, Sergio has been a protagonist in the club’s greatest years. He has won: Three Champions League, six league titles, four Spanish cups, three Club World Cups, three European Super Cups and five Spanish Super Cups. In his ninth season now with the club, he is looking to continue helping the club towards more honours.
