FC Barcelona's win in Gijón by the numbers

FC Barcelona’s wonderful 5-0 victory at Sporting threw up plenty of fascinating stats, and Sergi Roberto played a part in many of them. He’s now Barça’s top supplier of assists in La Liga with four, while Luis Suárez is outright top scorer with five goals. Sergio Busquets and Gerard Piqué captained a team that still has the highest goal count in the competition

Here’s a round-up of the standout stats from Saturday’s game in Gijón:

• With two assists against Sporting, Sergi Roberto now leads that category in La Liga, followed by Arda Turan with three. Roberto has now made a total of twelve assists for the first team, and curiously last night he set one up for Rafinha, just like he did at El Molinón last season.

• Barça have won all four of their road trips so far this season, scoring 13 goals and conceding just one. That’s some away form!

• Luis Suárez has scored 61 goals in 68 league games for Barcelona, and six of those have been against Sporting Gijón. After topping the Liga goalscoring charts last season, he leads the way again as things stand with five.

• After Arda and Rafinha both scored from headers on Saturday, Barça now have more such goals than any other team in the competition, five.

• Gerard Piqué donned the captain’s armband for the final minutes of the game, because all four of the usual skippers were off the field. Iniesta and Mascherano were on the bench, Messi is injured and Busquets had been substituted.

• L’última vegada que el FC Barcelona va guanyar dos partits consecutius com a visitant marcant almenys cinc gols per partit va ser al gener del 2015 (Elx i Bilbao). Ara, Leganés (1-5) i Sporting (0-5).
• Els brasilers Neymar Jr i Rafinha van ser els blaugranes que més faltes van rebre, amb un total de quatre cadascun.
