Celtic still ten clear in Scotland ahead of FC Barcelona's visit to Parkhead

Celtic will be welcoming FC Barcelona to Glasgow with their ten-point lead in the Scottish Premiership still intact after a 1-0 win at Kilmarnock on Friday evening.

Stuart Armstrong scored the only goal of the game shortly before half-time.

South of the border, Manchester City, who are currently two points behind Barça in Champions League Group C, also claimed three points this weekend with a 2-1 win at Crystal Palace. Both goals were converted by former FCB man Yaya Touré in his first outing for three months.

The first came off an assist from another former culé, Nolito and although Palace managed to cancel that one out, the Ivorian was on target a second time as he headed home a Kevin de Bruyne corner with seven minutes to go.

The win leaves City and Liverpool tied at the top of the EPL with 27 points each, but Chelsea will go back above them with a win at Middlesbrough on Sunday.

Meanwhile in Germany, things aren’t getting any better for Borussia Mönchengladbach, who were beaten on home turf, 2-1 by FC Cologne. The loss was made all the more painful by the winner being conceded in the 91st minute, and means the Foals are now languishing down in twelfth place in the Bundesliga table.

Real victorious in Madrid derby

Real Madrid took advantage of Barça's slip up to extend their lead to four points in the table over the blaugranes as Cristiano Ronaldo's hat-trick in the Calderón gave them an important 3-0 win over Atlético. Sevilla bounced back from home defeat to Barça by winning 3-2 at Deportivo la Coruña in the Saturday lunchtime fixture. They were three very hard-earned points indeed, with the Galicians taking an early 2-0 lead before N'Zonzi pulled one back for the Andalusians on the verge of half-time. Sevilla looked to be heading for defeat all the same, but goals from Vitolo and Mercado after 87 and 93 minutes turned things around and coupled with Barça’s draw with Málaga, there are now just two points behind the sides.

Fourth placed Villarreal are in Bilbao on Sunday evening at 8.45pm CET.

Next up for Barça is a trip to Real Sociedad on Sunday. The Basques are currently in an impressive sixth place in LaLiga, and could find themselves even higher on Sunday night, depending on the outcome of their visit to Sporting Gijón (8.30pm CET).
