Semedo: 'There are a lot of positives about the preseason'
SAN JOSË, California — Futbol Club Barcelona landed in San Jose, California on Wednesday at midday from Dallas, Texas, and after getting settled into the team hotel, the squad went to Avaya Stadium, just a stone's throw away, for its first training session here. The workout was Barça first as it begins to prepare for the team's third and final game of the preseason, which comes this Saturday night against AC Milan at Levi’s stadium in Santa Clara.
Prior to Wednesday’s session, the team's Portuguese fullback Nélson Semedo spoke to the media. Here are the highlights of what he had to say.
On how he feels coming into his second season with the team:
"It looks good, I’m completely adapted to the team, The players, the staff, and the fans have helped me a lot. I think this year will be better than last year."
On whether he will have more of a chance to play fullback of Sergi Roberto plays midfield:
I don’t know. I think that’s the coaches decision. We are both here to help the team reach his goals. And that’s our prime focus.
On whether Barça's goal is to win the Champions League:
Yes, our objective is to win it all every year. We know that we have a good team that is capable of winning every competition. This year is the same.
On how the new signings are adapting, and what he’s doing to help them:
They look good, as you can see. They're even scoring goals. I try to help them in any way I can. I speak a lot of Portuguese with the two Brazilians.
On the team’s performance so far in the preseason:
We don’t have all of our players but there are a lot of positive things to look at. There are also things we can work on to continue improving.
