Luis Enrique: We pressed very well

Luis Enrique oversaw an impressive performance from his players on Saturday evening as they sailed to a 5-0 win over Las Palmas at the Camp Nou.

It would have been hard for him to highlight exactly what he enjoyed most in his short post-match interview but he gave it a shot. Here is what the manager had to say:

“One of the objectives was to pay special attention to when we do not have the ball because we knew about the quality of Las Palmas, a team with great capabilities.”

“In attack, we were not so clinical in the first half but in the second we were more accurate.”

“With them defending as they were in a 4-1-4-1, they allowed clear chances to arrive to our inside midfielders and we took advantage well.”

“In 2017, I have seen good performances from the team even though in the first two games we did not get the result we deserved.”

On Aleix Vidal’s display

“The team came out strongly to show that we need everybody. Aleix Vidal showed again that he is ready to compete. The two inside midfielders, Rafinha and André Gomes, were very good.”

“Aleix Vidal is physically very strong with a very high rhythm. He is in great physical condition and trains really well.”

“It’s great for me to have all of my players ready and convinced that they can contribute.”
