Coutinho and Paulinho, into the quarters
Brazil advance into the next round of the Russia World Cup as they defeat Mexico 2-0 thanks to goals from Neymar and Firmino
Two more blaugranes are into the quarter finals of the Russia World Cup as the Brazilians Coutinho and Paulinho join Croatia’s Ivan Rakitić, Uruguay’s Luis Suárez and France’s Umtiti and Dembélé. The Brazilians comfortably defeated Mexico 2-0 at the Samara Arena.
The two goals came from Neymar and Firmino in the second half. The result could have been more convincing but for Ochoa’s save from Paulinho’s shot. The Brazilian blaugranes contributed to the victory as Coutinho played excellently for 83 minutes and Paulinho provided a box-to-box presence for 77 minutes.
The two players continue their impressive run through the tournament into the quarters. Brazil's next game is at the Kazan Arena at 8.00pm CEST on Friday 6 July.
