Luis Enrique: It is an important game for both teams
Luis Enrique spoke to the press on Saturday afternoon ahead of Sunday’s eagerly-anticipated league clash against Atlético Madrid.
The Asturian stressed that the match is crucial for both sets of players and that it will not be similar to the recent Copa del Rey tie between the sides.
“This match will be different to what happened in the recent Copa matches, it will be a match of special importance for both teams.”
“There are many league matches to player. It is clear that it is difficult to win matches, and it is the case for all teams. Our objective is to play a good game and win the three points.”
“Since the start of the 2017, it is the first long week we have had, without having a midweek game. This highlights the brutal schedule we have had, and it is normal that it has taken its toll.”
“The week has allowed us to work on many things, to analyse and for the players to rest.”
“Mascherano and Arda? After the training session we will know if they are available. They’re better than they were, they’re still recovering.”
“Since I arrived, the dressing room has always been very united. Happier when things are going well and less happy when things are not going so well, but always united.”
“Umtiti has earned his place in the team based on his performance and the level he has shown throughout the season. Ter Stegen? The times he has had to intervene he has done so well. I am happy with the output of the goalkeepers.”
