VIDEO: Busloads of skill from the U19s as they prepare for Borussia Dortmund
The UEFA Youth League is back on Wednesday, when the Miniestadi hosts the single-leg round of 16 clash with Borussia Dortmund at 6.00pm CET.
And on Monday in Nyon, UEFA unveiled one of the best-kept secrets about the U19 team. They recorded a video as part of the UYL Challenge, in which they showcase the best of their team and solo skills.
The Barça U19 side are the reigning champions of the skills challenge thanks to last season’s video of a barbecue at La Masia, where they kept the ball off the ground for 80 touches and rounded things off with a goal from Carles Aleñá. It was the most watched video of all those posted on the UEFA website and different YouTube and Dailymotion channels.
Bus passes
This season’s video was recorded at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper and features the players loading up the team bus in spectacular style.
There are no fewer than 55 touches of the ball before Marc Cucurella sends the ball over the vehicle for Seungwoo Lee to tuck in the boot! The whole team celebrate the feat – and who’s that sitting in the driving seat at the end?
It’s a terrific video, and we wish the team luck with their bid to retain the UYL Challenge – and also to win the UEFA Youth League. Doing that all means beating Borussia on Wednesday.
If you are in town, remember that entry to see the game with the Germans is completely free. Barça's guests made it into the last sixteen by coming second in their first round group behind Real Madrid and ahead of Sporting Lisbon and Legia Warsaw, before going on to win a playoff 1-0 against Maccabi Haifa.
