Gerard Piqué: 'After the comeback it would be great to go on and win the Champions League'
Gerard Piqué was the star at a nutrition masterclass in Barcelona. The centre back spoke about the Club and he was asked about Friday’s Champions League draw for the quarter finals. He stated: “We are not afraid of any possible rival. We know they will all be hard but we will go into the tie with optimism.”
Barça only made it into the draw following a historic comeback that had never been done before in the Champions League. ‘I enjoyed the comeback like a child, it was a perfect night. We have won a few Champions League trophies in the past and I must admit that the second leg against PSG felt just like that, if not better.” He added: “Now we need to go on and win it. We have to win it so that the comeback, which will be remembered as one of the best in football, isn’t in vain.”
"We will fight to win another treble"
Piqué remembered the comeback once again and he believes “all of Europe saw that Barça deserved to be the headline story in the most important European papers and I am delighted with that as I think we earned it.”
The night was an unforgettable one for all of us and Piqué is no different: “What I most remember is Sergi Roberto’s goal and running after him desperately to celebrate with him. The hugs, the tears…We experienced something unforgettable which we will tell our children about.” On the subject of the treble, Piqué remined everyone that Barça are the only team to have won it twice and that “we will fight to achieve it a third time.”
