Luis Suárez confident that history can be made against PSG

Speaking the day before facing the huge task of turning around a 4-0 deficit against Paris Saint Germain, the Uruguayan insists that if any team can do it, it's Barça

Luis Suárez was the FC Barcelona player on UEFA media conference duty this Tuesday, and despite admitting that Champions League qualification at the expense of PSG is a massive ask, he feels that nothing is impossible and that he and his team-mates are ready to give it their very best shot.

Here's a selection of standout quotes from the Uruguayan's press conference:

  • “We have shown what we are capable of doing in the last few games, trying to play with a strong attitude. And obviously we’ve been getting goals and that’s the target again tomorrow.”
  • “I have been thinking a lot about the game. We’ve been looking forward to this for the last ten days. All of us as a group and at Barça in general know what a nice challenge this is – to turn a game around by getting a result that has never been done before.”
  • "We are aware that a game can last for some 94 minutes and we have to stay patient. We know we shouldn’t play desperate football. We want to make history more than anybody and the stats show that we can do this.”
  • “All of the players are aware of what’s at stake tomorrow. It’s a difficult situation. Nothing is impossible in football and we’re convinced we can do this. If there is any team that can score four or more goals then that team is Barça. With our philosophy, with our playing style and if we can keep our heads cool then we can do this.”
  • “We’ll have to try to stop them getting chances to score. They know that we can damage them with the ball at our feet and by making good use of the spaces they leave.”
  • “The nicest thing about football is that as you get more mature you face greater challenges. This is one and setting things straight for Barça is going to be very tough but by no means impossible.”
  • “It’s very reassuring to have Iniesta behind you. He’s one of the best midfielders in football today and it’s good for any player to have him in the team.”
  • “If we do it, it would be a huge boost for our confidence. We are going to do everything we can to turn this situation around.”
  • “If we play a 3-4-3 system, then we have a better chance of exploiting the spaces they leave open.”
  • “Right from the warm-up we need the fans behind us. I am sure they will turn out in spectacular fashion. Altogether there are more than 100,000 of us, and the eleven of us on the field will be doing everything we possibly can.”
