FC Barcelona present placing of the first stone at Ladislao Kubala park in Budapest
Director Pau Vilanova represented FC Barcelona at the events celebrated in Budapest in memory of Barça legend Ladislao Kubala.
This June, Kubala would have been 90 years of age, and this anniversary saw his home city set up various special tributes for the famous player..
The day began by laying the first stone at the Ladislao Kubala park, which the city of Budapest has dedicated to the player. During this event, along with Pau Vilanova and Barça Players Group president Ramon Alfonseda, the mayor of Budapest, Itsván Tarlós, the Hungarian general consul in Barcelona, Barnabás Kovács, and the sons of the player Ladislao and Carlos Kubala also attended.
Later, the entourage went to the Kubala Vasas academy, where a floral offering was held at the statue of Ladislao Kubala and the hymns of the football teams of Vasas, Ferencváros, both of Budapest, and FC Barcelona, three of the teams in which Kubala played.
The tributes to Ladislao Kubala ended with a reception in the Budapest city hall, where the Hungarian film about Barça was shown, which broadcasts image of Kubala, Kocsis and Czibor. There was also time for a visit to the exhibition created around the life of Ladislao Kubala, with memories and documents related to the Hungarian player.
It should also be remembered that on May 8 the Palau Reial de Pedralbes welcomed the tribute that was organised in Barcelona to commemorate the 90th anniversary of the birth of Kubala.
