FC Barcelona 3-0 RCD Espanyol: Two magical minutes secure Copa Catalunya
Barça Women secured the Copa Catalunya after beating RCD Espanyol 3-0, thanks to a Dulce own goal and strikes from Bárbara Latorre and Patri Guijarro. Fran Sánchez’s side showed their quality in attack with two goals in two minutes which took the wind out of Espanyol’s sails following an equal start to the match. The blaugranas dominated the second half and had lots of chances before Patri Guijarro added some gloss to the scoreline in the 92nd minute.
In the opening minutes, RCD Espanyol played with real intensity and were able to regain possession from an unsettled Barça side. The blaugranas were lacking fluency and the opposition threatened Ràfols goal on various occasions in the opening stages. As the game went on the Barça players began to impose themselves and Mariona almost scored the opener in the 24th minute. Four minutes after that, Baudet went close but Røddik cleared off the line.
Two in two
In the 33 rd minute, the blaugranas got their first of the match. Andressa Alves went past two players on the left and produced a venomous cross which Dulce turned into her own net. The goal took it out of Espanyol and two minutes later Bárbara doubled the lead. This quick-fire double but Fran Sánchez’s side in complete control.
The second half was all Barça and they had chance after chance. Espanyol’s keeper ‘Mariajo’ produced some stunning saves to stop her side falling further behind. In the end, Patri Guijarro found a way past and scored the third in the 92nd minute. This gave Barça Women their eighth Copa Catalunya in the last nine years.
