Camp Nou witnesses Barça squad presentation
The moments leading up to the Joan Gamper Trophy game were emotional and full of joy. The Barça fans cheered on Ernesto Valverde’s players as they came out on to the field at Camp Nou. Once the players and the coaching staff made their way out, then it was the turn of the new arrivals for this 2017/18 season and finally the captains. Then, in the midst of a great ovation, came the Chapecoense team.
Ernesto Valverde had a few words for the Brazilian side on the evening of his first game in charge of the team at Camp Nou. “It’s an honour to receive Chapecoense for all they have been through and we offer them our support,” said the new coach. “We are starting a new season and new challenges; we know we have your support and we hope between us we can achieve our objectives,” he added.
Finally, Andrés Iniesta also highlighted Barça’s opponents. “Today is a special day and we are very happy that you are here and we want it to be unforgettable,” said the captain before welcoming his new team mates for the 2017/18 season.
