Barça B – Lorca FC: Victory at last (1-0)
Barça B picked up their fourth win of the season in the league with a goal from Arnaiz in the second half against a Lorca side who pushed the all the way to the final whistle. With the victory Gerard López’s side end a run of four games without a win in the Second Division.
The home side appeared determined right from the very off to end their winless spell. With Vitinho and Aleñá in midfield, Barça B had plenty of quality to call in with regards to creating chances. It was Aleñá who went close first for the home side with a shot from the edge of the box.
Defender Cuenca headed a good chance over from a corner before Barça keeper Ortolà was forced into action to maintain the scoreboard goalless going into the break. In the second half Barça B continued to dominate but once again Ortolà was key in keeping them level as Lorca were denied by the keeper once again.
Aleñá’s quality began to tell and when Concha struck the post with a well-placed effort, it appeared just a question of time before Gerard López’s side took the lead. That turned out to be the case as in the 64th minute Arnaiz conjured up what was to turn out to be the winner. The striker’s fourth goal of the season came thanks to a well hit shot from the left hand side of the box.
As the minutes ticked away, Barça B showed themselves to be happy to confide in their defensive abilities and protect their lead. Ortolà once again made an important save before Arnaiz missed out on scoring a second on the break. In the end the miss mattered little with the blaugranes closing out the game to take all three points.
