Member Solidarity Day to provide thousands in need with free tickets to Barça vs Murcia

FC Barcelona is celebrating the Club’s seventh annual Member Solidarity Day this Wednesday, when Barça hosts Murcia at Camp Nou in the return leg of the Copa del Rey last 32.

Member Solidarity Day is a pioneering initiative in which the Club’s season ticket holders donate their seats for one game per year—the team’s first home game of the Copa del Rey—to social organizations and people at risk of being excluded from society, many of whom would never have the chance to attend a match at Camp Nou.

A total of 337,987 people attended Member Solidarity Day in the first six editions. The match against Murcia kicks off at 7.30pm CET, which is earlier than in previous years—the games began at 10.00pm in four of the first six editions—and should bring more people out to the stadium.

The main entities involved—who are distributing tickets to over 2,000 social organizations—are:

· The Government of Catalonia
· The City of Barcelona
· The Red Cross
· The FC Barcelona Foundation
· The World Confederation of Supporters Clubs

On Monday, two days prior to Member Solidarity Day, FC Barcelona is holding a special event in the Auditori 1899 to recognize and give thanks to the organizations taking part.

On Wednesday, the day of the game, the World Confederation of Supporters Clubs is holding a food drive outside the stadium—at Access 15—in the two hours prior to kickoff. At the same time, there will be volunteers collecting signatures to petition the United Nations to formally create a World Accessibility Day aimed at freeing the world of barriers that affect people with all types of disabilities or special needs.

And just before kickoff, FC Barcelona’s starters will pose for a photo on the field with a group of local children with Down syndrome.
