FC Barcelona – Gintra Universitetas: Quarters in sight (3-0)
Barça Women cruised into the quarter final of the Women's Champions League for the third consecutive year, after a 3-0 victory against Gintra Universitetas. A comfortable first leg win allowed the team to play with confidence at the Miniestadi, with Fran Sánchez also able to rest Lieke Martens, Vicky Losada and Sandra Paños.
The hosts quickly took control of the match through their possession-based game, but were guilty of missing five clear chances before opening the scoring. Olga and Duggan both had shots from the inside the area though the hard-working Gintra keeper, Kaselyté, was equal to everything in the early part of proceedings.
Just before the break, Alexia scored with a great finish and a few minutes later, Toni Duggan flicked home the second from inside the six-yard box.
In the second half, the Lithuanians played with more intensity but were unable to get themselves back into the match, only succeeding in falling further behind when Alekperova put into her own net. Barça Women are now in the draw for the quarterfinals, in which Chelsea, Wolfsburg and Linkoping are already waiting. Their next game is on Sunday against Granadilla.
