Frank Rijkaard drops by Barça's workout!
Former FC Barcelona manager Frank Rijkaard visited the team during their training session Sunday, a day after he attended Barça’s 2–2 draw versus Celta at Camp Nou.
Rijkaard led FC Barcelona for five seasons (2003-2008), and won the 2006/06 UEFA Champions League title, as well as the 2004/05 and 2005/06 La Liga championships, and the 2005/06 and 2006/07 Spanish Super Cups. Rijkaard coached current players Andrés Iniesta and Leo Messi, in addition to a panoply of former stars like Ronaldinho, Samuel Eto’o, Carles Puyol, Xavi, Luis Enrique and Víctor Valdés.
“I’m very happy to have seen the [Celta] game,” Rijkaard said. “My son’s dream was to see Barça play in person.”
“Messi is God,” Rijkaard continued. “He deserves all the praise he gets, and the same with Iniesta. I congratulated them for everything they’ve done. It fills me with pride and I always follow them from afar. I have wonderful memories of Barça. It was fantastic.”
