8,552 fans party at Camp Nou to welcome Yerry Mina

A wonderful and distinctively Colombian flavoured atmosphere as FC Barcelona celebrates the arrival of the 23-year-old defender

Yerry Mina’s presentation this Saturday at the Camp Nou was unlike any other, with the Colombian connecting amazingly quickly with his new fans, 8,552 of whom were in the stadium to welcome their latest addition to Ernesto Valverde’s squad.

Much of the music and partying in the terraces was provided by his large community of compatriots in the city of Barcelona, most of whom are more than familiar with the defender from his days at Deportivo Pasto and Independiente Santa Fe.

The sight of the player appearing barefoot was just the start of an unusual but exciting moment for everyone with the fortune to be inside the stadium. But nobody was quite as excited as the man himself, who put plenty of passion into his cry of “Vamos, Barça! Visca, Barça!”

103 members of the media, 25 of them from Colombia, were there to report on the moment, which included the now traditional ‘rondo’ with children from FCB Escola and the delivery of a fantastic Audi car.

Most players would be happy to leave it at that, but Yerry Mina was determined to milk the moment for everything it was worth. He stuck around to greet as many supporters as he could and even treated them to the ‘choke’ salsa dance that he typically performs whenever he scores a goal.

One thing is for sure, Barça have not only signed a wonderful player. The club has also acquired a wonderful character!
