Nélson Semedo to be out approximately five weeks
The Club’s Medical Services department has confirmed that first team player Nélson Semedo has suffered an injury to his left hamstring. Further testing carried out has indicated that he will be out for approximately five weeks.
The Portuguese fullback—who has made 24 appearances, 14 in the league—was injured during Saturday night’s derby against Girona at Camp Nou. It happened in the 85th minute and forced Semedo to leave the game, which Barça won, 6-1.
Barça has a demanding schedule over the next several weeks, and faces Las Palmas this Thursday. The team also plays Atlético Madrid and Málaga in La Liga, and Espanyol in the Catalonia Super Cup. On top of all that is the return leg of the UEFA Champions League last 16 against Chelsea.
Recovery session for the starters
Just around 12 hours after the big victory on Saturday night, the team was back out on the practice field at the Ciutat Esportiva on Sunday morning. The previous night’s starters did recovery exercises. Joining the first team was the reserve goalkeeper, Jokin Ezkieta.
With the reserve team training on the next field, FC Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde and Barça B manager Gerard López ran into each other and chatted for a few minutes.
