Real Oviedo - FC Barcelona B: A point at the Carlos Tartiere (0-0)
FC Barcelona B drew at Real Oviedo’s Estadio Carlos Tartiere (0-0), in a very even contest and where the rain wasn’t conducive to providing the best conditions in which to play. With this point, Gerard Lopez’s side extend their good streak of results.
Emotional minute's silence for Quini
The match began with a touching minute of silence in memory of Enrique Castro 'Quini,’ who died on Tuesday night at age 68. In the first half, both teams still displayed great quality in their play, despite the inclement weather. Neither team were able to dominate clearly over the other, though as the half wore on the Blaugranes gradually started to have the lion’s share of the possession albeit without any creating clear chances.
In the 19th minute, a spectacular pass from David Costas gave Marc Cardona a great opportunity to score the opener, but his shot was well saved. Barça continued to probe, with Aleñá very involved in the middle, however, it was the locals that had the ball in the back of the net first through Toché. Much to the chagrin of the home support, the official ruled it out.
Solid
In the second half, Marc Cardona again tried his luck without success, both teams continuing to cancel each other out in an equal match. Costas and Cuenca in particular were very solid throughout the game, stopping any attempts from the hosts.
