FC Barcelona B v Numáncia: Bittersweet draw (2-2)
Barça B draw 2-2 with Numáncia after they conceded an equaliser in extra time. The blaugranas took a two-goal lead, inspired by Aleñá, but were unable to close out the game. The blaugrana number ‘10’ imposed himself on the game with his style of play lighting up the Miniestadi and he scored a goal and laid on an assist for the talented Abel Ruiz.
Patience pays off
Barça B dominated the ball and the opposition were defending with a high line. This meant the two centre-backs David Costas and Cuenca saw a lot of the ball and they looked for Aleñá as much as possible. The Catalans were struggling to create opportunities and their wingers Nahuel and Ballou received the ball too far from the opposition’s goal to cause any real damage.
Opportunities were hard to come in the first 30 minutes. The opener came from an individual move which ended with Aleñá feeding Ballou who was then brought down. Aleñá dispatched the spot kick for his ninth league goal of the season, which makes him the team’s top scorer.
Victory escapes Barça
Numáncia looked to level the match and they went on the attack and Barça looked to exploit the gaps opening up. The second goal came from this as the excellent Aleñá fed Abel Ruiz, who made no mistake to make it 2-0. The blaugranas looked in control of the game until Pere Milla made it 2-1.
From this moment on, Numáncia took control of possession as they looked to find an equaliser. Gerard López’s side were struggling to hold on in spite of Aleñá’s best efforts. In extra time, Diamanka equalised for the away team meaning Barça B ended the game with a point and their twelfth league draw this season.
