Tuesday workout with smaller squad and colder temperatures
With a bevy of Barça’s international stars scattered around the Western Hemisphere for a fortnight’s worth of friendlies with their respective national teams, there were just a handful of players still around on Tuesday for the first workout of the springtime hiatus.
Head coach Ernesto Valverde, thus, had just five of his players available:
Sergi Roberto
Aleix Vidal
Paco Alcácer
Denis Suárez
Nélson Semedo
Suárez and Semedo were back in the fold for the first time since sustaining injuries over the past month. Suárez injured his left hip flexor in Barça’s Catalan Super Cup win over Espanyol on March 7, and Semedo hurt his left thigh in the 6–1 La Liga win over Girona on February 24.
The Barça B players Carles Aleñá and Jokin Ezkieta brought to seven the number of players working out on Tuesday.
Two other first team players, Sergio Busquets and Thomas Vermaelen, who would normally be away on international duty with Spain and Belgium, respectively, spent the morning rehabbing their injuries.
