Iniesta, the final Clásico
“These are the final days of what have been 16 years with the first team. It seems it will never end…but the end is in sight.” Words from Andrés Iniesta as tt was the captain’s 38th Clásico and he took full advantage to savour the moment of this final game against Real Madrid in a Barça shirt. The Barça number 8 played 58 minutes before being replaced to a standing ovation in the second half. The 2-2 draw was the final result in his personal collection which includes 9 other draw, 16 wins and 12 defeats in all his appearances against the blaugranes’ biggest rivals.
In that time he also scored three goals and created six assists and put in some memorable performances in unforgettable encounters such as the 6-2 win in the Bernabéu, the 5-0 win at Camp Nou and the 4-0 win away which included a trademark Iniesta strike which will always be remembered as his last in a Clásico.
