Luis Suárez: Scoring in the Clásico is incredible
Luis Suárez, in an interview with LaLiga, casts an eye over Sunday’s Clásico against Real Madrid which comes just a week after the blaugranes claimed the league and cup double. The Uruguayan has scored 29 goals so far this season, 23 in the league, five in the Copa del Rey and one in the Champions League. This is what the striker had to say:
The Clásico, always special
“Clásicos are always special, they are spectacular to play in. I was lucky to see a lot of Clásicos and then have the chance to play in them.”
Goals against Real Madrid
“What I remember most about the first goal that I scored in a Clásico in the 2014/15 season. It was a very important goal, it gave us the win and it brought the title closer.”
“The goals in the Bernabéu in the 4-0 win were also really important. They are unique moments, to score against your biggest rivals away from home is incredible.”
The fans
“For the fans it’s really important to win these games. People are really involved and that motivates the players a lot. The fans have a really important role. You come out and see the mosaic [in the stands before kick-off] and the atmosphere is spectacular. It’s a privilege to pla in these match, more so here at Camp Nou.”
A world event
“It’s important to put on a good show for the fans, it’s the most watched game in the world. It’s always special, really great.”
