Hail the superchampions!

Prior to the game with Betis, the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys celebrates the recent victory in Jeddah

This Wednesday in the build-up to the Copa del Rey game with Real Betis, the FC Barcelona players were honoured for winning the Spanish Super Cup, and especially the extraordinary way in which they achieved it

Three days after triumphing 5-2 against Real Madrid, the Estadi Olimpic got the chance to celebrate together the first trophy of 2025. Ronald Araujo, surrounded by the starting XI from Sunday, was the man who got to lift the cup before the fans, and also the mascot CAT, who was naturally in attendance.

Real Betis joined the occasion by welcoming the blaugrana players onto the field with a guard of honour.

Silence for Hugo Sotil

The game was also preceded by an impeccably respected silence in memory of Hugo Sotil, the former Barça star who passed away last December 30 at the age of 75.

Born in Ica, Peru on 18 May 1946, he was regarded as one of the finest South American players of his era. Affectionately known to the fans as "Cholo", he won Culer hearts in the 1970s with his dazzling, showmanlike skills.
