Iñigo Martinez: 'We know how to get at Real Madrid'

In the run-up to his first final with Barça, the centreback outlines the team's desire ahead of another El Clásico, this time with a trophy on the line

It's been a season in which Iñigo Martinez has established himself one of the leaders of the blaugrana defence. Injuries to Christensen and Ronald Araujo saw him grab his chance since the start of the season, going on to form a very solid and competent partnership with Pau Cubarsí. Now in his second season with Barça, the Basque player is close to playing his first final and lifting his first trophy too.

One of the most experienced voices in the dressing room, the centre-back sat down with Barça One in Jeddah to give his thoughts ahead of another El Clásico that will decide the Super Cup winners: "We are very motivated and excited. It's the first trophy of the year and we want to win it, it can push us on in the other competitions." It's the first trophy on offer, but the opponent is none other than Real Madrid, making this the third El Clásico final in a row in this competition, and the second El Clásico this season after the 0-4 at the Bernabéu stadium.

"We know what we have to do, where to attack Real Madrid, and where they can be got at. We are going to go at them, full of confidence and with a more than capable squad", asserted the number 5, showing the team's level of conviction in the run-up to the clash. Iñigo also mentioned the re-registration of Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor, stating "that they are chomping at the bit. We are all very happy, as are both of them in particular."
