Lewandowski equals last season's goal total
Striker Robert Lewandowski continues to be a vital cog in the Hansi Flick machines that it Barça as he showed in the Spanish Super Cup final, scoring his 26th goal of the season in just 17 appearances. The Polish international's penalty in the first half of the game against Real Madrid means, in the middle of January no less, he has equalled his total from the entire 2023/24 campaign.
Previous seasons
The striker came to Barça at the start of the 2022/23 season from Bayern Munich and in his opening campaign as a blaugrana he scored a total of 33 goals in 47 matches, providing eight assists as well.
The following campaign he recorded 26 goals and nine assists in 49 matches, and this season he has already netted 26 times in just 27 matches, creating three assists as well.
Leader in Europe's top five leagues
No one can compare with Lewandowski's figures across Europe's top five leagues in all competitions. The Pole's 26 goals place him ahead of Liverpool's Mo Salah, Manchester City's Erling Haaland and Bayern Munich's Harry Kane, who all have 21 in all competitions. Rounding out the top five is Eintract Frankfurt's Omar Marmoush on 19.
