Environmental fee

FC Barcelona is demonstrating a firm commitment to sustainability in the broadest sense. Since the beginning of the Club's current Strategic Plan (2021/26), sustainability has become one of its three pillars, giving rise to the creation of the sustainability department, which has led various initiatives and produced a wide range of documents. These have focused on environmental initiatives structured into 4 main lines of action: energy, waste, water and biodiversity, and important documents have been prepared including sustainability reports, materiality analyses, carbon footprint calculations, a green office guide and biodiversity guides. In terms of energy use, it is worth highlighting that renewable sources supply 100% of the electricity consumed, while sustainable mobility is promoted and events are carbon-neutral. In the area of waste and water, high-impact circular economy projects have been implemented. All of the reinforced concrete from the demolition of the third tier of the old Spotify Camp Nou has been recycled and reused in the construction of the new stadium utilising a treatment plant located in the old Miniestadio (located 30 metres from the Spotify Camp Nou). Along the same lines, the necessary installations have been installed in Sports City to allow reclaimed water to be used to irrigate its training pitches. To verify compliance with sustainability criteria, external verification bodies are responsible for granting certifications both in relation to the construction of the Espai Barça (BREEAM, LEED) and for the goods and services offered by the Museum and the Club (Biosphere).

FC Barcelona is aware of the environmental impact of its daily activity and has implemented an environmental fee of €0.50 on each of the tickets sold for the Barça Immersive Tour and the future Museum in order to neutralise the carbon footprint associated with its visitors. This initiative has been carried out in collaboration with Artemeter, an expert in sustainability and carbon markets, and is aligned with the Club's strategic objectives. The collection of this amount and its use to offset CO2 emissions are audited. This initiative reinforces the goal of creating a low-carbon economy that benefits both the planet and its population, building a legacy of sustainability for FC Barcelona and its supporters around the world.
