The FC Barcelona Foundation’s ‘Polseres Blaugranes’ project is the focal point of Barca's Christmas campaign
In a year in which the Club’s is celebrating its 125th anniversary, and 30 years of the Foundation, FC Barcelona wishes to consolidate the value represented by ‘More than a Club’ which have identified the organisation over its history with a charity campaign that appeals to the pride of being a Barça fan.
The campaign highlights the ‘Polseres Blaugranes’ (Blaugrana wristbands) project created by the FC Barcelona Foundation. The initiative is part of the Foundation’s attempt to improve the welfare and quality of life of children and young adults who find themselves in hospital, and others who are suffering from a serious illness and are receiving pallitaive care at home.
The campaign video includes member of the Barça professional teams; FC Barcelona and Foundation president Joan Laporta; Dr. Marta Segú, director general of the Barça Foundation; the new mascot CAT; and the director and writer Albert Espinosa, the creator of the famous TV series “Polseres Vermelles”, which has served as inspiration for the project.
The ample presence of athletes and institutional figures from the Club, in a rare coming together, wishes to link culer unity with this charity objective. The campaign video takes the viewer through different Christmas scenes to create the effect that those taking part are together at the same time and place.
During the video we see how some of those involved show off a blaugrana wristband, a symbol of the blaugrana community’s wish to help children and young people who are suffering. The wristband is not just an accessory but also each one symbolises the laces on the boots of our athletes and attempts to reflect the Club’s commitment to the fight of children and young people in extremely difficult circumstances.

The programme attempts on the one and to improve the emotional welfare of children and young people during their stay in hospital, as well as those of their family, creating spaces and an atmosphere that can help them with their illness, and on the other strengthen innovative complementary treatments to the conventional, that can bring about an improvement in the development of the illness.
Albert Espinosa himself, an example of some who has overcome a serious childhood illness, will take an active part in the programme as an ambassador, helping to design different initiatives and explaining his own experience to the children and young adults.
