Tubos Aranda 27–42 Barça: Resounding away win

The blaugranes win again in the final away game of 2024

A very positive result in the final away trip of the year, as the Barça handball team have defeated Tubos Aranda 27-42 in what proved to be a convincing performance at a difficult place to go. A superb start saw the blaugranes go on to comfortably win a game that sees them consolidate their winning record and lead in the table.

Full steam ahead in Burgos

Barça came out of the blocks quickly, a solid defence supported by Gonzalo Pérez de Vargas in goal setting the tone for the blaugranes to go 3-9 up with five minutes gone. The attack was also firing, showing fluid and lively play, plus scoring goals on the counter.

The home side had to react and they called a time out. Their approach was different afterwards and they improved in defence in particular. This enabled them to come back to within six points (10-16) with 10 minutes to go to the break. However, despite the home side and their fans pushing, Barça managed to maintain their lead to go in 11-20 up at half-time.

Tubos Aranda came out for the second half fired up and were looking to come back into the game. The approach worked for a while but it was purely academic in the end. Barça scored two quick goals to snuff out the threat and with the win almost in the bag, Carlos Ortega made the most of the opportunity to give squad members some playing time. Final score 27-42.
