Lewandowski surpasses 100 Champions League goals
History made for Robert Lewandowski in the Champions League, with the Pole scoring twice against Brest in the Champions League to join a very select group of players to score at least 100 goals in the European competition. The milestone has only previously been reached by Cristiano Ronaldo and Leo Messi, who scored totals of 140 and 129 respectively.
Lewandowski achieved this incredible record after reaching 20 goals in 18 competitive games this season away to Celta Vigo. To boot, he is now also top scorer across all five major leagues this season with 22 goals, leading the way in both LaLiga (15) and in the Champions League (7).
101 goals across three periods
The striker set out when he was with Borussia Dortmund, scoring 17 goals in 28 games for the German club over three seasons. His performances saw him signed by Bayern Munich, where he became their focal point in attack. He went on to score 69 goals in eight seasons for the Bavarian side.
Lewandowski is now in his third season with FC Barcelona and has scored 15 goals in 19 CL games.
His favourite opponents
Lewandowski has scored against 37 different opponents. Half of those strikes came against just nine teams, with the remaining 27 shared across other teams. Crvena zvezda and Benfica both saw the Pole put seven goals past them. Salzburg and Real Madrid are close behind on conceding six, followed by five scored against Dinamo Zagreb and Ajax. Barça even figure on this list, as he scored four against his current club, while he has also scored four against Arsenal.
