Barça U19A 2-0 Brest: Fourth win in a row

Saca and Juan Hernández score the goals as Barça win for the fourth consecutive time in the UEFA Youth League

The Barça U19A side arrived at the fifth UEFA Youth League matchday fixture in good form. After losing the first game against Monaco – just like the first team – wins had been claimed against Young Boys, Bayern Munich, and Crvena zvezda. Today's victory against Brest mean they are looking ever more likely to continue in the competition.

Strong start

The intensity was there for all to see from the first whistle, Botz picking up a yellow card for an over-the-top challenge on blaugrana centreback Saca in the first minute. Saca himself then changed the narrative as he headed in a very accurate corner from Jofre Torrents (1-0, minute 10).

Blaugrana control

The rest of the first half was blaugrana, as the French side didn't manage to enter their box. Brest's keeper was their best player, making some fine saves to keep his team in the game. Barça's Jan Virgili was showing some great skill on the left and his side of the pitch was responsible for most of the home side's thrust. Half-time 1-0, with more efficiency in front of goal the target for the second half.

Another goal from a corner

Same again in the second half, and the same way to score the second. 10 minutes in and Leo Saca again connected powerfully with a corner – this time saved by the Brest keeper – but Juan Hernández was there to push in the rebound to extend Barça's lead (2-0, minute 54).

Brest showed a bit more attacking intent in the second half, looking dangerous at times, but Barça remained in control throughout the game, with Belletti  side robust in defence and a threat in attack.

This win for the U19As makes it four in a row, further consolidating their position in the new Youth League table. Next up, Barça will travel to Germany to face Borussia Dortmund on 11 December.
