Lamine Yamal and Aitana receive Barça Players Awards 2024
Lamine Yamal and Aitana Bonmatí have received the Barça Players Awards 2024 from the Agrupació Barça Jugadors, in recognition not just of their brilliant football, but also how they uphold the club's famous values. At the event attended by Juan Manuel Asensi, Pere Valentí Mora, Rafael Zuviría and Antonio Olmo of the Agrupació, as well as the two award winners, Joan Soler, director responsible for youth football and Xavi Puig, responsible for women's football at Barça, were also present.
Lamine Yamal has been collecting honours left, right and centre of late, perhaps the most important being the Kopa Trophy as the best player in the world under 23 years of age, but this one will mean something special to him because it comes from within the club itself.
Excellence and humility
The Masia graduate just can't stop breaking records, having achieved more than any other player before him at his age, and becoming one of the biggest names in world football. But he hasn't forgotten his humble origins in Mataró, which he honours ever time he scores a goal with his characteristic 304. All of that made him the obvious choice when the votes were cast last July.
Aitana strong as ever
If Bonmatí's experience is anything to go by, there are plenty more awards to come for Yamal. The Barça Women midfielder has been named player of the year for the fourth time in a row, but as well as leading the team to success at home and abroad, Aitana is also admirably dedicated to a number of social causes.
She is one of the strongest voices when it comes to supporting women in football and she was also an ambassador for the Barça Foundation, visiting the Barça Genuine Foundation during a training session to share her individual awards such the Ballon d'Or and The Best.
