FC Barcelona International Diary

This is the place to check up on how our internationals are faring for their countries this week...

Another international break is upon us, and there will be no FC Barcelona games for the next fortnight. Here we take a look at how our players are getting on for their countries:

  • Spain: Cubarsí, Pedri, Casadó & Dani Olmo
  • Spain U21: Pablo Torre
  • Spain U19: Pau Prim, Andrés Cuenca & Guille Fernández
  • France: Kounde
  • Netherlands: Frenkie de Jong
  • Brazil: Raphinha
  • USA: Diego Kochen

TUESDAY 19 NOVEMBER

Spain U21 2-1 Denmark U21 (Friendly)
Santi Denia's Spain U21 side won 2-1 against Denmark in Albacete, with Pablo Torre starting and playing well for 58 minutes, including a great cross to assist Javi Guerra's goal.

Brazil 1-1 Uruguay (World Cup qualification)
Raphinha played the full ninety minutes as Brazil were held to a 1-1 draw in Salvador. Federico Valverde put the visitors in charge early in the second half, but Gerson equalised just seven minutes later. Following the day's results around South America, Brazil have dropped to fifth in the Conmebol table, but are still in little danger of missing out on a place at the 2026 World Cup.

MONDAY 18 NOVEMBER

Spain 3-2 Switzerland (UEFA Nations League Group 4)
Pau Cubarsí, Marc Casadó and Pedri all started, while Olmo was rested, as Spain closed out their Nations League group with a win over the Swiss. It was an especially exciting occasion for Pedri, playing back in his native Canary Islands, and he was given a huge ovation when he was substituted towards the end. He could also have delighted them with a goal, but visiting goalie Mvogo saved his penalty. However, fellow islander Yeremy Pino was at hand to convert the rebound.

United States 4-1 Jamaica (Concacaf Nations League Quarter Final)
Diego Kochen was an unused substitute as the USMNT won 4-1 in St Louis and 4-2 on aggregate to advance to the final four of the competition.

SUNDAY 17 NOVEMBER

Italy 1-3 France (UEFA Nations League Group 2)
Jules Kounde played 82 minutes of a big win for France in Milan to ensure that they finish top of the group.

SATURDAY 16 NOVEMBER

Netherlands 4-0 Hungary (UEFA Nations League Group A3)
Frenkie de Jong started and played 68 minutes, as the Netherlands took a big stride towards qualifying for the tournament quarterfinals, moving three points ahead of their opponents with this big win.

FRIDAY 15 NOVEMBER

Denmark 1-2 Spain (UEFA Nations League Group A4)
Luis de la Fuente's team took the win in Copenhagen thanks to goals from Ayoze Pérez and Mikel Oyarzabal. Blaugrana Dani Olmo started the game and played 70 minutes with Pedri coming on for the last 10 and Marc Casadó also appearing in the second half to make his debut for the full national side.

Spain U21 0-0 England U21 (Friendly)
Pablo Torres played 27 minutes of the goalless draw for Santi Denia's side.

THURSDAY 14 NOVEMBER

France 0-0 Israel (UEFA Nations League Group A2)
Jules Kounde played the full 90 minutes as France were held 0-0 by visitors Israel at the Stade de France in Paris. Group leaders Italy's 1-0 away win in Belgium means that France have now qualified for the quarterfinals.

Venezuela 1-1 Brazil (World Cup Qualification)
A fantastic free kick just before halftime by in-form Raphinha saw Brazil take the lead before they were pegged back just after halftime by Venezuela. The game at the Monumental stadium in Maturin ended 1-1 and takes Brazil into 3rd place in the table as it stands.

Jamaica 0-1 United States (Concacaf Nations League Quarter Final)
Diego Kochen was an unused substitute as the US won 1-0 in Kingston.

WEDNESDAY 13 NOVEMBER

Spain 3-0 Faroe Islands (Euro U19 Qualification)
Barça Atlètic's Andrés Cuenca and Guille Fernández started, and Pau Prim came on as a substitute, as defending champions Spain got their European qualification campaign off to a fine start with a 3-0 defeat of the islanders despite playing the last half hour with ten men following a sending off.
